About Him
By nature I am quite a calm, compassionate and sensitive person; since lockdown I have become more internally motivated and consult my own inner signals rather than being driven by external factors. I really enjoyed being part of raising a family and would welcome being part of one again. I have my own consultancy business and work on my laptop and can therefore be flexible about where I live, but at the moment have a beautiful house close to nature in KZN as that is where I spent many happy holidays with my cousins while growing up in Cape Town.
I would rather spend a romantic evening with a special friend than at a large and impersonal party in a nightclub, and prefer meeting up informally with friends over a kitchen supper or braii than at a formal dinner party unless it’s a special occasion. I enjoy reading, music and current affairs, films, racket sports, walking/hiking and trying new experiences. I enjoy wit and amusing, touching moments. I find comfort in human contact. I have started taking an interest in yoga and meditation. I love being transported by a spectacular view, a lovely building or a stimulating speaker.
About His Ideal Match
Probably the best way of describing the relationship I am looking for is “let’s see how it goes.” If it turns out that there is real long term potential in the relationship, that would be great. The person I would love to meet would probably be in their 40s, 50s or 60s, but their age is much less important than whether they are in good shape physically, keen to stay healthy and active and have a youthful outlook on life.
Although it’s tempting to say that we should have lots of interests in common, I’m not sure that’s always essential to a happy relationship; more important, perhaps, is character and lifestyle compatibility. I’m looking for someone kind and thoughtful, amusing and romantic, curious and ready to be intrigued by the new and unusual; not overly keen on partying every night away and not someone dependent on alcohol or drugs for their desired state of mind. Openness, frankness and compassion are important; but I think it's important to understand that people often have difficult backstories that sometimes only reveal themselves gradually as trust builds in a relationship.
